SIGHT WORD PUDDLE JUMPING

Well since today is a rainy day, I thought Sight Word Puddle Jumping would be a good blog for today. This activity is a fun, learning activity that is perfect for these rainy days where we are stuck inside. This is easy to make, so you probably have the materials already at your house or you can at least improvise somewhat. I hope that your kids have as much fun with this activity as mine did!
Materials
Construction paper ( Any color or I used blue because it looks like water)
Scissors
Permanent marker
Umbrella, rain jacket, and rain boots (Not necessary, but makes it more fun!
First I cut the construction paper to make "puddles of water". My recommendation is to make them large enough for your child's feet to fit on them. Next, I wrote some sight words that we’ve been working on with my youngest, which is 4 years old. If you want to, you can put a rain jacket, rain boots or give your child an umbrella to make it extra fun for them! I then put the "puddles" on the floor in the living room floor. That's it! Simple and easy! Then we were ready to play! I called out the words one by one, and then he jumped on the words saying out loud the word that he jumped on!
The good thing about this activity is that it is very age forgiving, meaning that my 4 year old can do it, as well as a 2 year old or even my 9 year old, all depending on what you put on the water puddles. You can use this activity for learning numbers, color words, letters, shapes, or even animals (if you are a decent drawer you can draw the animals, or just use animal stickers.) For younger children, you can put an animal on the "puddle" and ask them what sound does that animal make? For my older child, I put short math problems that can be figured out in his head on the puddle.
