We got to check out the THE GLOW: A Jack O'Lantern Experience, and yes.... It was amazing! And yes... you and your kids should check it out! THE GLOW is a 1/3 mile trail of beautifully carved and lit pumpkins, some even made into objects, like a shark, dinosaur, and so much more! This is such a unique experience and is a fun way to enjoy fall evening with your kids and get into the Halloween spirit! This pumpkin wonderland is great for all ages, and is not scary.
We got to watch a live demonstration of one of the artists carving a pumpkin before going in to the pumpkin wonderland. This was so much fun to watch!
The Glow is set up in the Lake Fairfax Park in Reston, VA, about an hour drive from Winchester. Throughout this pumpkin wonderland walk, you'll see over 5,000 hand carved Jack O'Lanterns and themes set up along the way. Here are Jack O'Lantern sculptures from a few of the themes......
This is an event where you will definitely want to take your time walking through and just enjoy the view of all of these Jack O'Lanterns. You can walk though at your own pace, and we ended up spending over an hour walking through this event and taking pictures! My son's favorite themes were the dinosaurs and the Jack O'Lantern winter wonderland where fake snow is blown into the air. At the end of the trail, there is a field full of Jack O'Lanterns that is very cool sight to see!
So if your little ones love super heroes.....
Or Disney Characters, Hello Kitty, or Garfield, then they will love seeing these intricately carved Jack O'Lanterns up close!
On your way out you can pick out a pumpkin ($3 to $5) to take home with you and you can even get your pumpkin carved for you there for $20!
