Activities for Spring Fun in Winchester!
When the weather begins to warm up, everyone loves to spend time outdoors. Winchester is such a beautiful place for doing outdoor activities. This spring I plan to spend a lot of time with my almost three year old outdoors. Check out these family-friendly activities to do in Winchester and the surrounding areas!
Come to the pedestrian mall and kick off a week-long celebration for St. Patrick’s Day! Live music, face painting, Irish dancing, and a ton of delicious Irish food await you and your family on March 10th. There is even a scavenger hunt which sounds super fun!
The craft shows at Millbrook High School are always a hit. Local vendors come together to sell items like handmade soap, jewelry, and much more! There will be an Easter Egg hunt for children under 10 as well. Make sure to wear green because this even takes place on St. Patrick’s Day!
Apple Blossom Mall is hosting an Egg Hunt from 11am – 3pm. The first 100 people get a free t-shirt and the first 500 kids get a free treat bucket! There will be vendors stationed throughout the mall where children can stop to get a goody bag if their card from Tots2Tweens matches the card that the vendor carries!
Handley Library is offering a rock painting event for all ages. This is a free event held in the Children’s Room at the Handley Library main branch in downtown Winchester. Registration is required as supplies are limited, but it is sure to be a fun time for all!
These events are exciting and personally, I plan on attending all of them! While my stepson who is 13 may not be as excited about the Easter Egg hunts, I’m sure he will enjoy the St. Patty’s Day Festival. And my younger kids will love hunting for eggs and painting rocks later in March.
Of course, there are plenty of other activities to do in the spring in Winchester as well that don’t involve shopping!
Going to one of many parks that are in Winchester is a perfect way to spend the day. Pack a picnic and let your little ones play on slides and swings for the day! Take a walk around the lake at Clearbrook, Jim Barnett, or Sherando Park and see the ducks and fish. If you have a fishing license, you can even catch a few while you’re there!
On rainy days, instead of staying at home, head over to either Handley Library (Winchester) or Bowman Library (Stephens City) for story time, Lego Club, or a dance party! These events are offered for free on a weekly basis along with many others. Check out the schedule here.
Stay tuned for upcoming activities for summer fun when the kids are out of school!
