Have you ever thought about volunteering? How about for the American Red Cross? Did you know that 90% of the American Red Cross is made up of volunteers, people just like you and I! And your kids can even help volunteer in certain areas! Here are some of the ways that you can volunteer!
You can support the Red Cross Blood Team by being a blood Donor Recruiter, working with individuals, groups and companies to recruit blood donors and promote blood drives. Or you can be a driver that picks up donated blood units from a blood drive and deliver to the laboratory to be tested and then sent to the hospital.
You can also help when disaster strikes by providing food, shelter, comfort and home for families affected by major disasters such as fire, hurricanes and tornadoes. And even responding to single-family fires with a disaster action team supervisor.
You can educate others by becoming a Disaster Preparedness Presenter which educates individuals and groups on how to be prepared before a disaster occurs. You can be a Health and Safety Instructor where you teach community classes such as CPR, First Aid and water safety to children and adults. Or how about becoming a Babysitting Course Instructor by becoming certified and teach American Red Cross Babysitting courses to teenagers. Interested in Humanitarian Law? Yupp! They have a course for that too!
Interested in Supporting our Armed Forces? You can become a Hospital Volunteer by lending a hand to patients at Veterans Administration and military hospitals. Or become an Armed Forces Caseworker that ensures delivery of emergency communications for members of the military and their families.
Interested in helping save families from home fires? Be a part of the Sound The Alarm campaign and help install fire alarms in homes in our area!
It basically comes down to there is something for everyone! There is some way we can volunteer with the American Red Cross and help people in our community as well as abroad!
